Sydney is down-to-earth and ready to help
Sydney is a third-generation native Floridian who lives near Tampa with her nurseryman husband. This down-to-earth gardener is a popular environmental horticulture agent with the University of Florida’s Extension Service. A longtime member of the Garden Writers Association, Sydney recently co-authored a book titled, Your Florida Guide to Perennials.
Tips
  • “Tulips, hyacinths and other spring bulbs so adored in more northern climes just don’t cut it in Florida. Pre-chilled bulbs will bloom, but the year-round growing conditions in Florida never allow temperate bulbs to ‘recharge’ their batteries. Leaves, but seldom flowers, may struggle to the surface the second year... the third year – kaput!”
