| Meet the Garden Guru of California |
If you live along California’s Central Coast, perhaps you’ve seen Joe on TV, as KCOY-TV 12’s “Garden Guru.” (And if you haven’t seen Joe before, you’re lookin’ at him now.) Originally from San Diego, Joe grew up in an Italian family, learning about gardening from an early age. His “back yard” was Balboa Park. (“One of the greatest city parks in the country,” he says, “yet not well-known for being a prime botanical garden.”) Today our Garden Guru also serves as a horticultural consultant, landscape consultant and a teacher at Allen Hancock College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. But his work doesn’t stop there! Joe’s pretty much been a part of the horticulture industry in just about every position you can probably imagine – from owner and manager of a cutflower and perennial seed company to landscape designer. As if that weren’t enough, he’s also an accomplished public speaker and has been a trainer for Master Gardener programs in Wisconsin and California. Joe’s published works can be found in gardening magazines and books as well. (He even wrote a book on house painting!)

| Facts |
- Joe’s the founder of the Association of Specialty Cutflower Growers.
- When asked, “What is your favorite color; what’s your favorite movie; and if you were stuck on an island and could only bring one item with you, what would it be?” Joe’s response was, “Grover Cleveland.” (We’re still trying to get him to explain that one…)
