The hardy waterlily selection named ‘Arc-en-Ciel’ is a cultivar with color-changing flowers and exceptionally pretty leaves. Bred by the Frenchman Marliac, this free-flowering plant was introduced in 1901. Starry blossoms typically last three days, modifying their petal color on each subsequent day. The flower petals are initially shell pink becoming nearly white, always surrounding a deep yellow cluster of stamens. Usually only very large-size flowers release the noticeably sweet fragrance.
