(Common Columbine)
The spurred blooms of Aquilegia vulgaris ‘Woodside Variegata' are an elegant complement to its unusual, variegated green light, yellow and ivory mounds of foliage. Tall, branched, wiry stems support the pendant, lantern-like blooms, which are held high above the glowing foliage in spring. Blossom colors can be either light blue, white, red or pink, attracting bees, butterflies and moths.

(Common Columbine, Double-flowered Common Columbine)
Double flowered columbine are quite different in character than the traditional woodland perennials known for their large spurred flowers. This species Aquilegia vulgaris is a native of Europe fondly called granny’s bonnet, but the double flowered form is likely of garden origin. The foliage of doubles is the same as single flowered forms, bearing three part lobed leaves of soft blue-green that are more densely held at the base of the plant. The leaves bear a striking similarity in shape...
(Spurless Common Columbine)

Pretty golden stamens dangle from the center of each flower.
A European native, this columbine has many beautiful selections to include the popular dark purple to black 'Black Barlow'. These plants...
