Is it true? A purple coneflower with variegated leaves? Yes! Found as a seedling growing in a bed of Bravado coneflowers in the mid 1990s, 'Prairie Frost' was selected for this unique foliage characteristic. In early to midsummer, the stems bear daisy-like flowers with violet-tinted rosy petals around a bronze-orange cone. If the old flowers are promptly cut away, or deadheaded, additional flowering occurs and can be extended well into late summer.
