Introduced in 1885, 'Undulatum' has shiny, deep green, five- to seven-lobed leaves with slightly puckered centers and curled, frilly edges. The leaf stems exude a milky latex if severed. Clustered yellow-green flowers – which are more abundant and conspicuous than those of many maples – are followed by winged brown seeds. The bark is dark gray and fissured.
