(Panicle Hydrangea, Pinky Winky™ Hydrangea)
The large-flowered Pinky Winky™ has a compact bushy habit and produces upright pyramidal panicles of white flowers that quickly age to pink and then rose in autumn. The clusters continue to elongate when in flower and new white flowers appear on the same panicles as the older pink and rose blooms. The shrub itself has a spreading but uniform habit making it ideal for spacious foundation plantings.
One of the most beloved of the large ornamental hydrangeas, panicle hydrangea is named for its huge...

(Bigleaf Hydrangea, P. G. Hydrangea, Panicle Hydrangea, PeeGee Hydrangea)
The huge panicles of 'Grandiflora' are truly grand. This Japanese selection has massive white clusters composed almost entirely of showy sterile flowers. It was first brought to the West in the late nineteenth century and is parent to many outstanding hardy cultivars available today. The shrub itself becomes quite large and can be trained to a tree-like standard. The common name "P.G." is explicit for this variety (Hydrangea paniculata 'Grandiflora'), although "pee gee" is now confusingly...

(Panicle Hydrangea, Pink Diamond Panicle Hydrangea)
The glistening Pink Diamond bears huge pyramidal clusters of rose pink flowers that are held for a long time. The panicles are composed evenly of fertile and showy non-fertile flowers. The shrub itself is medium-sized and can be trained to a tree-like standard.
Large green leaves line the stems in spring and darken with age. In mid to late summer the large panicles of flowers appear. These are covered with small inconspicuous fertile flowers and showy four-sepaled flowers that are flattened and...

(Limelight Hydrangea, Panicle Hydrangea)
This is by far one of the most popular of all panicle hydrangea cultivars. The beautiful 'Limelight' offers large pyramidal panicles composed of many showy lime green flowers that fade to greenish white. The panicles are large and the stems thin, so the blooms tend to arch and weep, especially after a heavy rain. This robust grower becomes quite large and can be grafted or trained to a tree-like standard.

(Little Lamb Hydrangea, Panicle Hydrangea)
The clustered blooms of this relatively compact cultivar are smaller and daintier than those of most other panicle hydrangeas. It is one of numerous selections of Hydrangea paniculata, a medium to large deciduous shrub from Japan and China.
The large, oval, paired or whorled leaves flush medium-green in spring, darken somewhat in summer, and go dull yellow in fall. In midsummer large conical flower clusters appear on the current year's growth. They contain a few inconspicuous fertile...
(Melody Hydrangea, Panicle Hydrangea)
The enormous ivory flower panicles of 'Melody' are delicate with masses of fertile flowers accentuated by showy sepals at the tips. Flowers bloom in summer and age to rosy pink as the season progresses. This large shrub originated as a seedling of the popular 'Unique.' Both panicle hydrangeas were introduced by Jelena and Robert de Belder of Belgium.

(Panicle Hydrangea, Pee Wee Hydrangea)
As the name suggests, this compact hydrangea produces equally compact flowers that are very showy and much like those of 'Grandiflora' but in miniature. It has a shrubbier more bushy habit making it better suited as a foundation shrub around homes.

(Panicle Hydrangea, True Unique Hydrangea)
Whether this is a valid name or not is questionable, but what is not in question is that many plants sold as 'Unique', one of the finest classic panicle hydrangea cultivars available, are not true 'Unique.' Apparently, growers devised this revised name to let buyers know they are getting the real deal. 'Unique' has enormous flowers that are very showy and was bred and introduced in 1968 by Jelena and Robert de Belder of Belgium.
