The pungently fragrant night-blooming Antares tropical waterlily is a very free-flowering selection beloved for cup-like, rosy red and orange flowers. These exceptionally colored blooms are held above the water surface, open around dusk and begin to close between 11 a.m. and noon the next day. Each blossom lasts for three to four days. Regarded as a hardy waterlily, 'Attraction' produces very large, garnet-red flowers with glowing orange-yellow centers filled with stamens. Bred by the Frenchman Marliac, this free-flowering plant was introduced in 1910. Blossoms typically last three days and are barely scented. At first the flower is cup-shaped, and becomes more star-like with age. Oldest flowers may also have some pink blush.
