This evergreen herbaceous perennial is native to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The large, oblong, glossy, wavy-edged leaves grow in a vase-shaped clump. Narrow maroon spathes and long, fragrant, purplish green spadices appear sporadically throughout the year in warm, humid conditions.

Anthurium crenatum needs warmth, humidity, and partial shade, and thrives in a porous soil rich in leaf mold. Grow it as an indoor container plant, or outdoors in tropical climates.
