Although primarily known for its sweet nuts, this large deciduous tree from central North America also has ornamental virtues such as attractive compound leaves and a straight, furrowed, reddish brown trunk. One of the most successful and widely planted pecans in the Southwest U.S., 'Wichita' bears prolific midseason crops at a relatively young age. It performs well in the South-Central and Southwest U.S., but has done poorly in the Southeast.
