ACER palmatum 'Beni Otaki'
Beni Otaki Japanese Maple, Japanese Maple
The beautiful Japanese maple is a small deciduous tree native to eastern Asia. Its cultivar 'Beni Otaki' features purple, palmate (hand-shaped) leaves that are divided into narrow claw-like lobes. It is often described as resembling red bamboo. The gray bark is attractive throughout the year.
For most effective growth the Japanese maple prefers a semi-moist acidic soil and part shade. 'Beni Otaki' works well as a feature plant for the garden, in containers, and for bonsai.
