ACER palmatum 'Burgundy Lace'
Burgundy Lace Japanese Maple, Japanese Maple
The beautiful Japanese maple is a small deciduous tree native to eastern Asia. This hardy selection features deeply lobed, palmate (hand-shaped) leaves which emerge purple-red in spring, deepen to burgundy-red and dark green in summer, and turn fiery tones in fall. It has been likened to 'Bloodgood' but is less bright and colorful. In winter, the stark gray branches will add to any garden or landscape.
This maple prefers sites with rich, well-drained soil and part sun to part shade. It is versatile in the landscape and may be grown as a feature plant, in a mixed border, or in a container.
