Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
ACER palmatum var. dissectum 'Green Lace'
Dissected Japanese Maple, Green Lace Dissected Japanese Maple
A small multi-stemmed deciduous tree native to eastern Asia, the beautiful and ubiquitous Japanese maple is a garden staple. The deeply dissected leaves and elegant arching habit of the cultivar 'Green Lace' make it a year-round standout in the landscape. The bright green leaves turn bright golden-yellow in fall. Inconspicuous purplish flowers in spring give rise to green, red-tinged, winged fruits. In winter, the green branches and low, mounded, fountaining habit of a mature specimen will add to any garden or landscape.
Japanese maples prefer sites with rich, well-drained soil and part sun to part shade. They fare poorly in hot, dry, or windy locations. Some self-sowing may occur. This beautiful cultivar is versatile in the landscape and may be grown as a feature or container plant or in a mixed border.
