Family

Aceraceae

Botanical Name

ACER rubrum 'Jeffersred'(AUTUMN BLAZE®) PP4864

Plant Common Name

Northern Red Maple, Red Maple

General Description

Autumn Blaze® red maple is a high performer when it comes to early, long-lasting fall color. This tall, deciduous tree has a uniform oval to canopy of deeply lobed, bright green leaves that turn vivid scarlet in fall.

North American in origin, it is adapted to a wide range of soils and topographies, including wet sites. Red maple grows best in locations with full to part sun and makes a great shade tree or street tree for urban settings. It has a root system that grows close to the surface, so do not plant too closely to sidewalks or patios, especially if made from dry laid brick.
