Family
Aceraceae
Botanical Name
Acer tataricum ssp. ginnala 'Mondy'(RED RHAPSODY™)
Plant Common Name
Amur Maple, Red Rhapsody™ Amur Maple
General Description
A selection of Tatarian maple (which is a small, bushy tree native to southeastern Europe and southwestern Asia), 'Mondy' is notable for its much-branched, domed habit and the rich red of its fall color. Its rounded, three-lobed, toothy leaves turn a uniform red in fall. In spring the tree bears clusters of fragrant,yellowish-white flowers followed by red, winged fruits.
This is a good deciduous tree for northern gardens. Its size makes it useful in small yards and mixed borders. It can also be planted for a hedge or screen.
