Achillea millefolium 'Heidi'
Common Yarrow, Heidi Common Yarrow
Winner of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit in 1999, this outstanding yarrow cultivar displays a profusion of rich salmon-pink flowers atop healthy clumps of ferny, gray-green foliage. The dense, slightly rounded flower clusters are borne on sturdy stems from early through midsummer. They are beloved by butterflies, and also make fine cut flowers.
Tough, drought-tolerant and easy to grow, this perennial performs best in full sun and moist, reasonably fertile, well-drained soil. Blooming may be prolonged by regular removal of faded flower stems. If necessary, divide plants every two to three years in spring or fall. ‘Heidi’ is ideal for mixed borders and casual cottage-style gardens.
