Jessie Keith

Family

Asteraceae

Botanical Name

ACHILLEA millefolium 'Orange Queen' ('Orangekonigin')

Plant Common Name

Common Yarrow

General Description

Yarrow ‘Orange Queen’ decorates the garden with many large, flat-topped flower clusters of warm, blushing orange from early through midsummer. The blossoms are borne on strong, slender stems atop vigorous clumps of ferny, sea-green foliage, and are attractive to butterflies. This cultivar may also be sold under the name ‘Orangekonigin’.

Grow this dependable, tough perennial in full sun and well-drained soil of average fertility. Removal of spent flower stems encourages the longest bloom display. This plant may spread enthusiastically if allowed, and should regularly be divided and replanted to control its size. Yarrow is a great choice for mixed borders or informal cottage gardens, and its blooms make lovely cut flowers.
