Family

Asteraceae

Botanical Name

ACHILLEA millefolium 'Paprika'( GALAXY SERIES)

Plant Common Name

Common Yarrow, Paprika Common Yarrow

General Description

The popular common yarrow 'Paprika' is a colorful and carefree hardy perennial. From early to midsummer it offers large flat-topped clusters of diminutive daisy-like flowers of russet red. These are borne above bright green, ferny basal foliage. Plants may bloom intermittently from early summer to early fall if given good care and deadheaded regularly.

Common yarrow performs best in full sun and average well-drained soil but can tolerate partial sun and dry soil. It is rhizomatous and may become unruly over time if allowed to grow freely, so it's essential to divide it regularly. Dependable and tough, this is a great perennial for mixed beds and borders as well as wildflower gardens. Its flowers are especially attractive to bees and butterflies.
