Botanical Name

ACHILLEA ptarmica 'The Pearl'( The Pearl Group)

Plant Common Name

Sneezewort, The Pearl Achillea

General Description

The pretty sneezeweed ‘The Pearl’ is a vigorous, spreading herbaceous perennial that originates from regions in Europe to Siberia. It is markedly more compact than standard sneezeweed and its flowers are fully double and pure white.

In spring it forms vigorous clumps of linear dark green leaves that emit a strong scent when crushed. This cultivar produces many clusters of double white blooms. The small fully double flowers rise from slender leafy stems in summer. Regular deadheading encourages more flowering.

Sneezeweed is a meadow plant in the wild, so it prefers full to partial sun and average fertile soil with even moisture. It will even tolerate clay-rich soil. Over time, its clumps will spread, so it needs dividing every few years to keep it tidy and in bounds.

Plant this easy perennial in sunny informal gardens. Its flowers are long-lasting when cut and look pretty as filler to larger blooms.
