AGASTACHE 'Pink Pop'

Family

Lamiaceae

Botanical Name

AGASTACHE 'Pink Pop'

Plant Common Name

Agastache, Hybrid Hyssop, Pink Pop Agastache

General Description

Everblooming and brightly colored, ‘Pink Pop’ is a fragrant hybrid hyssop that will boost the color level in any sunny summer garden. This compact, clump-forming herbaceous perennial produces dense upright clusters of pink tubular flowers. It begins blooming in early summer and will continue up until frost if regularly deadheaded. The flowers are highly attractive to hummingbirds and bees, and like most Agastache, its small, soft gray-green leaves are aromatic when crushed.

Full sun is required for best flowering and performance and average soil will suffice but well-drained, slightly alkaline, loam is preferred. Beware wet, heavy, clay soils as these will cause root and crown rot, particularly in winter. One of the biggest perks of this everblooming perennial is that it’s remarkably heat and drought tolerant once established and will shine when many other plants in the garden are flagging. ‘Pink Pop’ may self-sow gently but the variable offspring will not be true to parent.

This is one of the best ornamentals for hot summer sun. It’s so tough, it’s almost sustainable. Just let nature do its thing. Plant it in any sunny flower garden, container planting or hummingbird garden.
