AGERATUM 'Patina Burgundy'( PATINA SERIES)
Flossflower, Patina Burgundy Flossflower
This entry has yet to be reviewed and approved by L2G editors.
Well-branched, heavy flowering and not faltering in the high heat of summer, Patina Burgundy flossflower has burgundy flower buds that open to a dusty mauve. This tender perennial is widely planted as bedding annuals and will bloom all season long.
The compact bushy plant was lush, deep green leaves. When temperatures are warm and growing conditions good, it produces big clusters of button-like flowerbuds that are deep burgundy. Bees and butterflies flock to the blooms that are a dusty rose to mauve when open. Deadheading will encourage vigorous flowering and keep plants looking pretty.
Vigorous and easy to grow, flossflowers perform best in sites with full sun and average to fertile loam with good drainage. Partial sun is tolerated but full sun is best. Average water and regular fertilizer for flowering are recommended. Rarely bothered by deer, flossflowers are lovely in containers or mixed borders and pair well with other brightly colored, sun-loving ornamentals. In tropical or subtropical zones these survive all year long as evergreen perennials and develop shrubbier habits.
