Family

Ranunculaceae

Botanical Name

ANEMONE x hybrida 'Pamina'

Plant Common Name

Fall Anemone, Hybrid Anemone, Pamina Windflower

General Description

The semi-double rose blooms of ‘Pamina’ set this late season perennial apart from the rest. This hybrid fall-flowering anemone is derived from two parent species, Anemone hupehensis var. japonica and Anemone vitifolia, which originate from China and Japan. It is a vigorous hardy clump-forming plant that spreads over time.

The leaves are medium green, lobed and maple-shaped. In late summer to fall it puts forth tall, airy stems covered with numerous semi-double buttercup-like flowers with golden yellow centers and rosy pink petals. The tall stems should be cut back once the flowers are spent to keep plants looking neat.

Grow hybrid fall-flowering anemone in sites with partial sun and average to moist, humus-rich soil. If left undisturbed it will spread vigorously, so it is best divided every two to three years. Plant this anemone in mixed borders with ample space. It pairs well with woodland asters, sedges and hostas.
