ANGELONIA angustifolia 'Balangbeke'( ANGELMIST® BASKET PURPLE, ANGELMIST® SERIES)
Angelmist Basket Purple Angelonia, Narrowleaf Angelon, Summer Snapdragon
Members of the angelonia Angelmist® series are compact, heavy-flowering, heat-loving tender perennials which bloom generously from early summer to frost. The cultivar ‘Basket Purple' features an abundance of dense, showy spikes covered with rich, plum-purple, orchid-like blooms.
Narrowleaf angelonia, or summer snapdragon, is an upright perennial to tender perennial native to Mexico and the islands of the West Indies. The neat, clump-forming plants are evergreen in frost-free zones and are commonly treated as annuals in areas with harsh winters. Throughout the growing season, plants bear loose spikes of open, snapdragon-like flowers that appear in shades of pink, purple or white. There are many solid and bicolored cultivars of this ever-blooming, drought tolerant ornamental.
Angelonia does best in sites with full sun and average, well drained soil. For best performance, feed and water regularly. An excellent choice for containers and mixed beds, its showy blooms are attractive to bees, and also make excellent, long-lasting cut flowers.
