Family

Haemodoraceae

Botanical Name

ANIGOZANTHOS flavidus 'Rambueleg'( BUSH ELEGANCE, BUSH SERIES) PP18209

Plant Common Name

Bush Elegance Kangaroo Paws, Kangaroo Paws

General Description

A free-flowering evergreen perennial, Bush Elegance kangaroo paw was hybridized from parents native to extreme southwestern Western Australia. In mid-spring through summer, and year-round in ideal conditions, it flowers on tall, well-branched stems above a clump of upright, strap-like leaves. The flowers appear in fan-like clusters and are tube-shaped, reddish-purple on the outside and green on the inside.

This cultivar, also known as 'Rambueleg,' should be planted in a moist but well-drained soil that is kept drier in summer and fall. A sandy soil that has a good organic base is ideal. Avoid fertilizers, especially those high in phosphorus, until after flowering ceases. Full sun exposures are perfect, but a partially shaded site is suitable. Avoid wetting the leaves if possible. Kangaroo paw makes a fantastic cutflower for arrangements and is excellent dried. Use Bush Elegance kangaroo paw in a mixed border or as an edging or accent plant. Its compact growth makes it an excellent choice for a sweeping groundcover.
