General Description

Uniform in thie tiny size with a pleasing upright habit, the Florini™ Series of snapdragons are short-lived tender perennials (often used simply as annuals) very effective in hanging baskets and containers. Developed by the Dutch breeders Hilverda Kooij, these plants have origins in southwestern Europe and the Mediterranean, they bear early-season flowerspikes of distinctly lipped flowers of that snap open and shut when squeezed, hence the name “snapdragon". Regarded as one of best in light frost tolerance and small pot culture, Florini™ Series plants will flower from early spring to late fall, if spent flowerspikes are removed, and come in a broad array of blossom colors with green foliage. When weather is very hot they will reduce blooming, reblooming robustly again in the cooler temperatures of autumn. They are cutting-grown (not raised from seed), and assists in ensuring all plants attain a similar form.

Grow the very pretty-flowering Florini™ Series snapdragons in full sun and moist, well-drained, average soil that has organic matter. Often used as an annual plant in regions with mild and cool summers, the snapdragon is best reared outside of summer in the subtropics. Place a dry, thick mulch over plants in colder climates to help them overwinter without damage. Enjoy this cute snapdragon series of plants in containers or en masse in the foreground of annual or mixed garden beds.
