General Description

Husky and well-branching with dark green leaves and stems topped with a spike of bright peachy yellow-orange blossoms, Palette Apricot snapdragon is a short-lived tender perennial (often used simply as an annual) that is short-growing. From southwestern Europe and the Mediterranean, they bear early-season flowerspikes of distinctly lipped flowers that snap open and shut when squeezed, hence the name “snapdragon". Regarded for their good branching and shorter mature height, Palette Series plants will flower from very early spring to fall, if spent flowerspikes are removed, and come in a handful of cheerfully different blossom colors with deep green foliage. When weather is very hot they will cease blooming, reblooming again in the cooler temperatures of autumn.

Grow the very pretty-flowering 'Palette Apricot' in full sun and moist, well-drained, average soil that has organic matter and moisture. Often used as an annual plant in regions with mild and cool summers, the snapdragon is best reared outside of summer in the subtropics. Place a dry, thick mulch over plants in colder climates to help them overwinter without damage. Enjoy this branched snapdragon massed in annual beds on in containers for glorious color. Its full shape allows it to pair well behind both tulips and pansies in a springtime bedding display.
