General Description

Unique in that they are short and trailing, the Playful™ Series of snapdragons are short-lived tender perennials (often used simply as annuals) very effective in hanging baskets and smaller containers. Developed by BallFlora Plant, they are propagated via cuttings only. Native to southwestern Europe and the Mediterranean, they bear early-season flowerspikes of distinctly lipped flowers of that snap open and shut when squeezed, hence the name “snapdragon". Regarded for their trailing and dwarf size, Playful™ Series plants will flower from early spring to fall, if spent flowerspikes are removed, and come in a broad array of blossom colors with green foliage. When weather is very hot they will cease blooming, reblooming again in the cooler temperatures of autumn.

Grow the very pretty-flowering Playful™ Series snapdragons in full sun and moist, well-drained, average soil that has organic matter. Often used as an annual plant in regions with mild and cool summers, the snapdragon is best reared outside of summer in the subtropics. Place a dry, thick mulch over plants in colder climates to help them overwinter without damage. Enjoy this handsome snapdragon series of plants in hanging baskets and spilling over the edges of containers or on hillside beds. They are wonderful sprawling under the towering stems of Darwin or lily-flowering tulips, bearded irises or other tall perennials with complimentary flower colors.
