ANTIRRHINUM majus 'Rocket Bronze'( ROCKET SERIES)
Rocket Bronze Tall Snapdragon, Tall Snapdragon
Grown for its beautiful bronze-orange blooms with yellow lips, ‘Rocket Bronze’ is a very tall, sturdy snapdragon that produces numerous, densely-flowered spikes. In fact, in 1960 it was chosen to be an All-American Selection for its vigorous and floriferous nature.
Commonly grown as an annual, snapdragon is actually a short-lived perennial that originates from southwestern Europe and the Mediterranean.
This old-fashioned, clump-forming bedding plant has medium green, lance-shaped leaves. From summer to fall it bears upright spikes of distinctly lipped flowers that snap open and shut when squeezed, hence the name “snapdragon.” These are attractive to bees and will even draw the occasional hummingbird.
Easy to grow and sun-loving, snapdragon grows best in sharply-drained fertile garden soil. It will continue to flower well if spent spikes are removed and plants are fed regularly. When weather is very hot it may cease blooming for a spell. Enjoy this fine bedding plant in containers and mixed beds and borders. Tall snapdragons make excellent, long-lasting cut flowers.
