General Description

Attractive, fine-textured foliage and anemone-like, buttery-yellow flowers set the Shere™ Monroe Lemon Anemone Marguerite daisy apart from others. It was developed by Dutch Syngenta plant breeders in 2003. A rounded, compact plant, the long-lasting flowers occur on self-branching stem tips. First appearing early in the spring for a long flowering season, the flower heads are semi-double. Instead of a golden eye center, a flattened crown of short petaloids create the anemone-like center. Surrounding them is a single row of narrow, palest yellow petals.

This bushy, shrub-like tender perennial has deep green, deeply lobed leaves that are ferny and emit a strong fragrance when crushed. Its daisies are produced above the foliage and appear from late spring till frost or almost year round in frost-free climates. Flowering subsides in very hot weather and deadheading will prolong vigorous bloom.

This easy-to-grow plant grows beautifully in full sun and moderately fertile garden soil with good drainage. Regular light pruning will promote compact growth, increase flowering and provide cuttings for propagation. Plants are wind and salt tolerant. Grow Shere™ Monroe Lemon Anemone Marguerite daisy in seaside gardens, large containers, or sunny garden beds. The blooms attract butterflies and may also be cut for flower arrangements.
