General Description

Shere™ Monroe White Marguerite daisy is a very compact, ball-shaped plant that bears white daisy flowers. It was the result of a controlled breeding program by Syngenta Seeds in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands. The compact growth habit, early flowering and little need for growth chemicals makes this cultivar unsurpassed for greenhouse potted gift plant production. First appearing early in the spring for a long flowering season, the flower heads have a golden eye center surrounded by a single or double row of white petals. The latter technically makes the flowers semi-double in form.

This bushy, shrub-like tender perennial has deep green, deeply lobed leaves that are ferny and emit a strong fragrance when crushed. Its daisies are produced above the foliage and appear from late spring till frost or almost year round in frost-free climates. Flowering subsides in very hot weather and deadheading will prolong vigorous bloom.

This easy-to-grow plant grows beautifully in full sun and moderately fertile garden soil with good drainage. Regular light pruning will promote compact growth, increase flowering and provide cuttings for propagation. Plants are wind and salt tolerant. Grow Shere™ Monroe White Marguerite daisy in seaside gardens, containers, or sunny garden beds en masse or as edging. The blooms attract butterflies and may also be cut for flower arrangements.
