General Description
The shrubby evergreen Marguerite daisy is beautiful and durable. The hybrid Madeira™ Crested Yellow -- cultivar 'Bonmadcre' -- is compact, well-branched and uniform. Each daisy-shaped flower has a yellow center with numerous clumping lemon-yellow florets to create a fluffy, pompon-like eye. The downward-pushed ray petals that surround the eye are pale yellow, completing the semi-double form of the blossom. Madeira™ Created Yellow is a tough plant that is grown as a perennial in frost-free climates and a bedding annual in cold winter regions.
The rounded bushy clump-forming plant has green ferny foliage that emits a strong fragrance when crushed. Many daisies are produced in abundance above the foliage. Flowering subsides in very hot weather and deadheading will prolong vigorous bloom.
This easy-to-grow plant excels in full sun and moderately fertile, moist garden soil with good drainage. Regular light pruning will promote compact growth, increase flowering and provide cuttings for propagation. Plants are wind and salt tolerant, perfect for seaside landscapes.
Grow Madeira™ Crested Yellow Marguerite daisies in containers, as a bedding plant, in perennial borders and cutting gardens for lovely, long-lasting color. Flowering is always best in sunny conditions during cooler months of the year. Compared to Madeira™ Crested Primrose, this selection's center is a much brighter, clearer yellow.
