Botanical Name
ARGYRANTHEMUM frutescens 'Supasat'(MISS PINK) PP15442
Plant Common Name
Argyranthemum, Marguerite Daisy, Miss Pink Marguerite Daisy
General Description
All season vibrant single daisies of deep pink cover Miss Pink. As they flowers age, they fade to lighter pink, which adds to the plant's interest and ornamental value. This free-flowering, compact tender perennial was bred by Graham Noel Brown in Cobbitty, New South Wales, Australia along with many other fine bedding Argyranthemum.
The tough shrubby Marguerite daisy is popular for its beauty and resilience. This tender evergreen perennial originates from the Canary Islands, Madeira and other regions in Macronesia, where it survives in sunny rough sloped terrain and oceanside plant communities. In temperate zones with cold winters it is grown as a popular bedding annual.
Marguerite daisy is shrubby and clump-forming and has deeply lobed leaves that emit a strong fragrance when crushed. Its pink daisies have bright yellow eyes. They are produced above the foliage and appear from late spring till frost, or almost year round in frost free climates, and are attractive to butterflies. Flowering subsides in very hot weather and deadheading will prolong vigorous bloom.
This easy-to-grow plant prefers full sun and moderately fertile garden soil with good drainage. Regular light pruning will promote compact growth, increase flowering and provide cuttings for propagation. Plants are wind and salt tolerant, so they are ideal for oceanside gardens, containers, or sunny garden beds.
