Ball® Horticultural Company

Family

Asteraceae

Botanical Name

ARGYRANTHEMUM( MADEIRA™ SERIES)

Plant Common Name

Argyranthemum, Madeira™ Marguerite Daisy

General Description

The shrubby Marguerite daisy is popular for both its beauty and resilience. Hybrids in the Madeira™ Series have compact well-branched habits, moderate vigor, and are very uniform. Their abundant flowers are single, fully double or semi-double and crested. These tough plants are grown as perennials in frost-free climates and bedding annuals in cooler zones.

The rounded bushy plants are upright and clump-forming and covered with evergreen ferny green foliage that emits a strong fragrance when crushed. Many daisies are produced above the foliage. They appear from late spring till frost or almost year round in frost free climates. Their centers are yellow and surrounded by single or multiple rows of ray petals of white, yellow, rose-pink or apricot. Flowering subsides in very hot weather and deadheading will prolong vigorous bloom.

This easy-to-grow plant prefers full sun and moderately fertile garden soil with good drainage. Regular light pruning will promote compact growth, increase flowering and provide cuttings for propagation. Plants are wind and salt tolerant.

Grow Marguerite daises in containers, as a bedding plant, in perennial borders and cutting gardens for lovely, long-lasting color.
