Botanical Name
ARGYRANTHEMUM 'Ohmadsant'( MADEIRA™ SANTANA, MADEIRA™ SERIES) PP16637
Plant Common Name
Argyranthemum, Madeira™ Santana Argyranthemum, Madeira™ Santana Marguerite Daisy
General Description
The shrubby evergreen Marguerite daisy is beautiful and resilient. The hybrid Madeira™ Santana is compact, well-branched and uniform. Its semi-double flowers have orange-yellow centers and deep purple-red ray petals. It is a tough plant that is grown as a perennial in frost-free climates and a bedding annual in cooler zones.
The rounded bushy clump-forming plant has deep green ferny foliage that emits a strong fragrance when crushed. Many daisies are produced in abundance above the foliage. They are semi-double and purple-red with orange-yellow centers and appear from late spring till frost or almost year round in frost free climates. Flowering subsides in very hot weather and deadheading will prolong vigorous bloom.
This easy-to-grow plant prefers full sun and moderately fertile garden soil with good drainage. Regular light pruning will promote compact growth, increase flowering and provide cuttings for propagation. Plants are wind and salt tolerant.
Grow Marguerite daises in containers, as a bedding plant, in perennial borders and cutting gardens for lovely, long-lasting color.
