Family

Asteraceae

Botanical Name

ASTER 'Sungal' PP9163

Plant Common Name

Aster, Sungal Aster

General Description

Originally bred in Israel from unknown cultivars of Aster ericoides,, this patented hybrid features larger, more deeply colored flowers than its parents, and is deservedly popular for use as a bouquet filler in the cut flower industry. Its numerous rich purple, yellow-centered daisies top airy, generously sized, very well-branched plants in late summer to early fall. They are exceptionally long-lasting in the vase, and will also attract bees and butterflies to the garden.

For best growth, provide this perennial with full sun and reasonably fertile, well-drained soil. If desired, clumps may be divided every few years in spring. ‘Sungal’ is a great choice for mixed borders and cutting gardens.
