ASTER 'White Opal'

Image of Aster 'White Opal'

Family

Asteraceae

Botanical Name

ASTER 'White Opal'

Plant Common Name

Aster, White Opal Aster

General Description

This lovely, compact aster freshens the garden with drifts of snow-white daisies borne atop neat mounds of fine, dark green foliage. The gleaming blossoms begin opening in late summer to early fall, and are highly attractive to bees and butterflies.

Provide this perennial with full to part sun and well-drained, loamy soil of average moisture. If desired, plants may be divided in spring every few years. As with other asters, ‘White Opal’ is an excellent source of late-season color for beds or mixed borders, and is suitable for use as a cut flower. Its compact size also makes it a great choice for edging or autumn-themed container plantings.
