Family

Saxifragaceae

Botanical Name

ASTILBE 'Beauty of Lisse'( COLORFLASH™ LIME, COLORFLASH™ SERIES) PPAF

Plant Common Name

Astilbe, ColorFlash™ False Spirea, False Spirea

General Description

Brighten up any dull shade garden with the season-long vivid lime green foliage color of ColorFlash™ Lime false spirea. Hybridized in Europe and introduced by Anthony Tesselaar International, this reliable perennial is unique because it offers a double whammy of colorful foliage and flowers.

In late spring through early summer plants put forth tall, upright plumes of fluffy pink flowers. Happy specimens may produce five to nine stalks per plant when only a year old. Like many hybrid Astilbe, these are clump-forming and spread slowly over time.

Astilbes benefit from rich slightly acid organic-rich soil. Even soil moisture is essential for maintaining beauty and overall strength. They are useful problem solvers for woodland sites, foundation plantings or shade gardens. False spirea are typically planted in groups to intensify visibility, but even a single plant of ColorFlash™ Lime would offer enough interest to stand alone.
