Plant Common Name
Fibrous Begonia
General Description
Fibrous begonias (also known as wax begonias) are tender perennials that are grown as warm-season annuals in temperate zones. Cultivars in the Cocktail Series are distinguished by their compactness and relative sun-tolerance. Their waxy, succulent, rounded leaves are bronze, and their small, waxy flowers may be red, pink or white, depending on the selection. Plants bloom continuously all season.
These fibrous begonias prefer full to partial sun and well drained, average soil. They are perfect for mixed borders, containers and hanging baskets. In colder zones, they can be brought indoors to overwinter.
