Botanical Name
BEGONIA 'Senator White'( Semperflorens Cultorum Group, SENATOR SERIES)
Plant Common Name
Fibrous Begonia, Senator White Begonia, Wax Begonia
General Description
Wax begonias in the Senator Series are a terrific group of bronze-red leaved plants that produce abundant flowers all summer. The cultivar ‘Senator White' bears many clean white flowers all season. This tender perennial is a popular bedding plant due to its compact habit, dense branching and vigorousness.
Plant wax begonia in sites with partial sun to shade and fertile evenly moist soil that is amply drained. The begonia's waxy leaves and stems give it limited tolerance to drier soils, but moist (but never soggy) organic-rich soil yields the fullest growth. Plants will tolerate full sun where summers are cool and temperate. The bronze-colored foliage of these begonias will have greener tones if plants are grown in deep shade. They are ideal for shaded borders, beds and containers.
