BERBERIS thunbergii f. atropurpurea 'Bagatelle'
Bagatelle Barberry, Purpleleaf Japanese Barberry
This purpleleaf Japanese barberry is a dwarf mounded shrub with very shiny purple-red leaves. Attractive bright red fruit persists into winter and has been known to self-sow.
Thorny, but still suitable for low hedges or edging, the Bagatelle barberry is also useful in the rock garden as a nice small accent plant. A tough plant, tolerant of many types of sites in full to partial sun locations.
