BERBERIS thunbergii 'Talago'(SUNJOY GOLD BERET™) PPAF
Sunjoy Gold Beret™ barberry -- cultivar 'Talago' -- is a low, dense, mounding multi-stemmed shrub that is native to eastern Asia and Japan. Its glossy bright yellow leaves emerge from reddish new growth and turn orange-red in the fall. Bright red berries, which are attractive to birds, appear in late summer to fall and persist into winter. This shrub has been known to self-sow.
Thorny, but still suitable for groundcover and beds, it also makes a nice accent plant. Japanese barberry is a tough, sun-loving plant that is tolerant of many soil types and sites. Barberry 'Talago' is on the United States Department of Agriculture's list of rust resistant barberries.
