BETULA pendula 'Dalecarlica'
Common Birch, European White Birch, Lobeleaf Common Birch, Silver Birch
European white birch cultivar 'Dalecarlica' (aka 'Lacinata') is an elegant tree with graceful arching branches and deeply cut leaves. Its bark is brown on immature branches becoming white with black fissures as the tree grows. Flowers are called catkins and are very noticeable in the spring on the bare branch tips.
European white birch is very prone to birch borer and its fall color is not dependable. It is tolerant of moist and dry soils and is very cold hardy. This is a common cultivar found in nurseries.
