General Description

A short-lived, spreading perennial, often grown as an annual, Apache beggarsticks has a low, spreading habit and airy, rich green foliage. This native of the southern United States and Mexico is heat-loving and showy in bloom, when it produce many open, broad petaled golden yellow flowers at the ends of slender stems from summer to fall. The flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies and require little deadheading.

A plant for sunny sites, Apache beggarsticks grows best in rich to average soil with good drainage. It is perfect for sunny containers, hanging baskets, border edges or rock gardens.
