Bignoniaceae

Botanical Name

BIGNONIA capreolata

Crossvine

General Description

Crossvine is a semi-evergreen vine with yellow-red flowers appearing in spring. Sometimes a plant may rebloom sparingly during the summer months on this native of the central and southern United States and extreme southern Canada. The dark green summer foliage turns a purplish color in winter.

Crossvine should be placed in a sunny location with a moist, well draining soil. In the coldest zones leaves may drop during winter months. This vine will readily ramble over trellises, fences, and through trees.
