Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
BUDDLEJA davidii 'Ellen's Blue'
Ellen's blue butterflybush is a compact, upright to arching shrub that originates from China and Japan. It has gray-green leaves and produces elongated clusters of violet-blue flowers from mid-summer to frost.
Plants are best located in full sun and can tolerate a wide range of well-drained soils. This is a wonderful shrub for attracting butterflies, but plants tend to freely sow themselves throughout the garden and beyond. In warm climates 'Ellen's Blue' may be semi-evergreen. Butterflybush is quite drought tolerant and provides summer interest to sunny mixed borders and foundation plantings.
