This entry has yet to be reviewed and approved by L2G editors.
Butterflybush is an upright, arching shrub of medium height. It has gray-green leaves and commonly bears lilac-colored flowers from mid-summer to frost. There are many cultivars that vary in height and offer flower colors in shades of red, pink, purple, and white. Plant prefer full sun and well-drained soils. This is a wonderful shrub for attracting butterflies, but plants tend to freely seed themselves throughout the garden. Butterflybush provides summer interest for mixed borders and foundation plantings.
