BUDDLEJA x weyeriana 'Sungold'
Golden Butterflybush, Sungold Butterflybush
Distinguished by its golden orange flowers, 'Sungold' is a colorful butterflybush that offers warm tones to sunny gardens.
Golden butterflybush is a vigorous hybrid of Buddleja davidii and B. globosa but retains the orange-yellow flower color of the latter species. This medium-sized, deciduous shrub has gently arching branches lined with glossy deep green foliage. Its flowers are borne in clusters that appear from summer to autumn. Removing spent blooms will encourage continued flowering.
Drought tolerant once established, golden butterflybush should be grown in full sun and perfectly drained, average soil for best results. Attractive to butterflies and bees, its interesting flowers are great for cutting and brighten sunny shrub borders and foundation plantings.
