Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
BUXUS microphylla 'John Baldwin'
John Baldwin Boxwood, Littleleaf Boxwood
John Baldwin boxwood is a dense, upright yet rounded broadleaf evergreen shrub that can be easily pruned for use as a medium-sized hedge or topiary. The glossy foliage emerges soft green and matures to deep green with a bluish cast. It is not attractive to deer for grazing, but its tiny fragrant flowers are often visited by bees.
Very adapted to heat and humidity, 'John Baldwin' grows best in partial sun and well-drained soils and benefits from mulching to keep its roots cool and moist. With age, this cultivar takes on a slightly more open habit in its upper branches.
