General Description

Warm and cheerful when shining its pretty bright orange flowers, Gitana Orange pot marigolds compact dwarf plants. This bushy annual grows fast and delivers bright sunny color all season, provided temperatures are not too warm.

Pot marigold is a bushy annual that originates from Europe and the Mediterranean region. It is very easy-to-grow but is best in climates where summers are temperate and cool, though plants can be surprisingly drought tolerant once established. It's most popularly raised as a cool season bedding plant.

During the growing season, it bears double (extra petaled) daisies of bright, vivid orange. These appear amid many soft medium green leaves and are highly attractive to bees and butterflies. The petals of pot marigold flowers are edible and add a spicy flavor to salads.

This annual is long-blooming and highly rewarding. It needs full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Regular deadheading will encourage continuous flowering as will regular food and water. Enjoy 'Gitana Orange' in mixed borders, containers, herb gardens or vegetable gardens. In subtropical areas grow them in the cooler dry season months.
