Brightly colored and fit for royalty, pot marigolds in the Princess Series are tall-stemmed, and have fully double flowers great for gardens and floral arrangements. These bushy annuals grow fast and deliver bright sunny color all season; this series tends to form flowers earlier in the growing season than other pot marigolds.
Pot marigold is a bushy annual that originates from Europe and the Mediterranean region. It is very easy-to-grow but is best in climates where summers are temperate and cool, though plants can be surprisingly drought tolerant once established. It's most popularly raised as a cool season bedding plant.
During the growing season, it bears double (extra petaled) daisies atop tall, low branching stems. They come in shades of yellow and orange with or without dark center eyes. These appear amid many soft medium green leaves and are highly attractive to bees and butterflies. The quilled petals of pot marigold flowers are edible and add a spicy flavor to salads.
This annual is long-blooming and highly rewarding. It needs full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Regular deadheading will encourage continuous flowering as will regular food and water. Enjoy pot marigolds in mixed borders, containers, herb gardens or vegetable gardens, this series' flowers have long stems excellent for cutting. In subtropical areas grow them in the cooler dry season months.
